What is Metaphor? – Definition
(MET-uh-for)
A metaphor is a way of describing something by saying it is something else that has similar qualities. It’s not meant to be taken literally but helps to create a vivid image or make a point.
Example: Saying “time is a thief” means time passes quickly and takes moments away, just like a thief takes things. Metaphors make descriptions more interesting or powerful by showing how two different things are alike in a certain way.
