Martin Luther King Jr. Civil Rights Thesis Statement
It is my hypothesis in this respect that MLK had recourse to cultural conformity as an
identification strategy in an effort to gain recognition, as wide as possible, for his people’s
belonging to Americanity, a recognition that he viewed as a prerequisite, sine qua non stage of
action, if African Americans were to attain social and political equality.
