Gravity – Examples, PDF

Everything on Earth relies on the planet’s gravity to pull everything towards its surface. Even the moon has its gravity that affects the Earth in many ways, one of which is the ebb and flow of the ocean waves.

What Is Gravity

Gravity is the force the planet exerts onto its surface drawing anything caught inside its gravitational field towards the center of the Earth. Gravitons are considered the carriers of the gravitational field.

How to Calculate the Force of Gravity

The force of gravity refers to the force caused by gravity between two objects. If you are still confused about the concept of gravity, you may view and read any of the gravity samples, examples, and gravity-related activities.

1.) Write Down the Equation

Begin by writing down the equation of the force of gravity in your notepad or digital note-taking software. The equation is Fgrav = (Gm1m2)/d2 where Fgrav is the force of gravity acting on the object, G is the universal gravitation constant (In Earth the value will constantly be 6.673 x 10-11 Nm2/kg2, m1 refers to the mass of the first object, m2 refers to the mass of the second object, and finally d2 is the distance between both objects.

2.) Ensure All the Variables Have the Correct Metric Units

Before inputting all the available variables in the equation, you will need to make sure all the variables have the correct associated metric units. If any of the variables have the wrong associated metric units, you must convert them to the correct units. Both of the masses in the equation need to be in kilograms or kg, while the distance should be expressed in meters or m.

3.) Fill in the Given Variables

When you have converted all the variables into their correct associated metric units, you will now fill in all the available variables into the equation. This will help determine which part of the equation you will be solving for

4.) Solve the Equation

After finishing all the steps above you must conduct all the necessary calculations to obtain the answer. Note that the answer should have the correct unit alongside it, the unit for the force of gravity is expressed in Newtons or N.

FAQs

Why do we need to know about gravity?

Gravity is one of the most important forces in our lives, as without this force it would be impossible for life to exist. It is very important to understand the concept of gravity and how this force affects our lives. One of the best examples of the relationship between gravity and humans is the variations in the heights of people on our planet. Another example of gravity and its relationship with humans is the force’s ability to keep our atmosphere grounded ensuring that we can breathe and regulate the oxygen in our body.

What is a zero gravity chair?

A zero gravity chair is a reclined chair that lifts the person lying on the chair to be hoisted up into the air. This will line up the person’s feet and heart in one straight line, it is said to relieve a person’s tension and stress. Another benefit of a zero gravity chair is its ability to distribute the weight of a person evenly.

What is specific gravity and how does it affect our everyday lives?

Specific gravity is the effect of gravity on an object, liquid, or organism often resulting in the density of said things. Density is the characteristic of an object, liquid, or organism’s mass per volume, often affecting one’s buoyancy, miscibility, and other properties of said things. Specific gravity and density can be used to calculate and determine whether an object floats or sinks in a body of water.

Gravity is one of the most important forces in the world, as it keeps a lot of the factors of our lives rooted in the earth. Not only is this force important but gravity has also many real-life applications that we can leverage to our advantage. In conclusion, as humans, we need to understand gravity to appreciate how this force affects our everyday lives.
