Frederick Douglass Thesis Statement
This thesis argues that sequential juxtaposition of images and words found in the narrative of
the graphic novel The Life of Frederick Douglass: A Graphic Narrative of a Slave's Journey
from Bondage to Freedom by Walker et al. (2018), makes this medium particularly suitable to
be used in an educational environment, to provide insights into concepts and historical
contexts that might be abstract or remote to some learners, such as slavery and racism.
