Have you ever been asked by your professors to make a short or brief presentation of an activity you are being assigned? You may even have tried note taking in school for a project. Many university students are often tasked with this in order for them to get a good and brief idea of what they want to do. It is the same with activities. These notes are made just to make the person or people understand what kind of project they may have in mind. To get a good idea of what a concept note may look like, what it is for and other important information, here are examples of concept notes for students and for activities, both work and school related.
Concept notes also called concept statements are a kind of notes that give out a brief but clear outline of the activity or the project you are going to work on. The idea of the concept note is to give you a general point of view of how you want your activity or project to turn out. The concept note includes a short description of the project or the activity, your objectives, the possible results of it and of course the budget overview. The budget overview is needed only if your activity or project needs spending.
What is in a concept note? That is the most common question asked when you think about a concept note. There is no exact format when making a concept note, but there is of course a simple step to constructing it. With that being said, here are simple steps to take to write your own concept note.
The title of the project and the name of the party is often the first thing you will see in a concept note. This is an important factor for you to add as the concept note is about the project or the activity and how you are going to outline it. The name of the party or the organization who is coming up with the outline of the concept note.
Add a short description of the project, this includes the goal and the objectives of your project. The description does not have to be too long as it is expected that only a short summary should be added. Your short description should be clear and concise.
Write down the budget estimates. All the list of materials and equipment that are necessary for your activity or project. Add the budget estimates for each of the materials or resources you will need to get an idea of how much is necessary and how much is important.
Make a prediction or theorize an expected outcome of your project. Add it to the notes or the outline you made for your notes. This does not necessarily mean that this expected outcome will come out as it is, rather it is what you believe it would be.
