a company can choose between cost competitive advantage and distinctiveness competitive

this case, Oracle has selected integrated cost leadership and differentiation strategy to represent
their effective match between their strength, weakness, opportunity and threat to achieve success.

to produce products with some differentiated features (Hitt, Ireland, &Hoskisson, 2015). By
using the integrated cost leadership/ differentiation strategy, Oracle is be able to adapt quickly to
new technologies and rapid changes in their external environments. Moreover, by concentrating
on developing two sources of competitive advantage increases their number of primary value
chain activities and support functions in which the firm must become competent.

with low level of diversification strategy, because its revenue comes from three different segment
which are Software and Cloud, Hardware Systems, and Services. Software and cloud have 76
percent of its revenues, hardware systems have 14 percent of its revenues, and services have 10
percent of its revenues in 2014. Furthermore, a company that implements this diversification can
receive positive returns because they develop capabilities useful for these markets and can
provide superior service to their customers (Hitt, Ireland, & Hoskisson, 2015).
