Dear Brandon Kennedy,
My name is Emma Krzeminski and I saw your ad online referring to the barista position at the Starbucks
that you manage on Alfred street. I loved working as a barista at my previous job so I would be more than
happy to be considered for the position.
For almost a year I worked as a barista at The Village Roost in Wilmington, Southern Vermont. The cafe
was right in the center of a heavily populated touristy ski town, so I am very familiar with the fast-paced
environment of the restaurant industry. Working in the industry has not only taught me how to be quick on
my feet, but also how to stay concentrated because there is not much room for mistakes during rush hour.
My daily duties were to juggle the following; make coffee, take orders, serve food, clean tables, counters,
and bathrooms. I have transferable skills of working with coffee machines and I’m familiar with the basic
recipes of espressos, cappuccinos, macchiatos, americanos, lattes, mochas, nitros, cold brews, fraps, and
more.
Because the cafe was always very busy, it was not uncommon for customers to get frustrated for a
plentiful of reasons. My ability to stay patient and calm with customers diffused a lot of stressful
situations, and kept the customers satisfied with our service. I also kept the same positive attitude with my
workmates because I recognized that having effective communication with my coworkers was vital to
keep a productive work environment.
The restaurant industry is not for everyone, and it takes a specific kind of person to be able to handle the
lively and exciting environment. Because of my naturally bubbly and positive personality, I made lots of
friends with my customers when working as a barista. I recognize that the locals aren't just coming in for
a double shot iced latte, but also for a warm smile and a friend to wish them good luck on their
presentation at work.
Thank you for considering me to be a part of your team. If you want to hear more about my qualifications
you can find more on my resume that is attached. If you have any questions or would like to set up an
interview you can contact me by my email, phone number, and/or mailing address that are listed below.
Sincerely,
Emma Krzeminski
