My
first
real
lesson
in
finance
arrived
at
the
age
of
sixteen
,
when
my
grandfather
explained
how
a
single
Federal
Reserve
interest
rate
decision
altered
the
loan
payments
for
his
dry
-
cleaning
business
in
Chicago
.
That
moment
revealed
that
finance
is
not
an
abstract
discipline
confined
to
skyscrapers
;
it
is
the
invisible
architecture
shaping
real
lives
and
small
businesses
.
Since
then
,
I
have
pursued
every
opportunity
to
understand
that
architecture
,
and
I
am
now
eager
to
bring
my
skills
and
perspective
to
the
Master
of
Science
in
Finance
program
at
Boston
College
.
I
graduated
from
the
University
of
Illinois
at
Urbana
-
Champaign
with
a
Bachelor
of
Science
in
Economics
,
maintaining
a
3.82
GPA
while
working
twenty
hours
per
week
as
a
peer
tutor
in
econometrics
.
My
coursework
in
advanced
corporate
finance
,
derivatives
,
and
financial
econometrics
gave
me
a
rigorous
quantitative
foundation
.
In
Professor
Elena
Vostroknutova
'
s
empirical
methods
seminar
,
I
co
-
authored
a
paper
examining
the
impact
of
regulatory
capital
requirements
on
community
bank
lending
patterns
in
the
Midwest
.
Our
findings
,
which
highlighted
a
12%
contraction
in
small
-
business
origination
volumes
following
Basel
III
implementation
,
taught
me
that
regulation
and
markets
interact
in
complex
,
often
unintended
ways
.
After
graduation
,
I
joined
J
.
P
.
Morgan
in
New
York
as
an
Investment
Banking
Analyst
in
the
Industrials
group
.
Over
two
years
,
I
executed
eight
M
&
A
transactions
and
four
debt
financings
totaling
more
than
$
4.3
billion
in
enterprise
value
.
My
role
required
building
three
-
statement
operating
models
,
conducting
precedent
transaction
analyses
,
and
drafting
offering
memoranda
under
tight
deadlines
.
Beyond
the
technical
work
,
I
learned
to
communicate
complex
financial
concepts
to
skeptical
CEOs
and
board
members
.
One
particular
transaction
,
the
sale
of
a
family
-
owned
logistics
company
to
a
strategic
buyer
,
reinforced
my
belief
that
empathy
and
clarity
are
as
important
as
valuation
precision
in
finance
.
Looking
ahead
,
I
aim
to
bridge
institutional
capital
markets
and
middle
-
market
businesses
as
a
private
equity
investor
focused
on
industrials
and
business
services
.
The
MS
in
Finance
at
Boston
College
appeals
to
me
because
of
its
emphasis
on
ethical
leadership
and
its
integration
of
quantitative
rigor
with
practical
application
.
Courses
such
as
Advanced
Financial
Modeling
and
Portfolio
Theory
will
sharpen
my
analytical
toolkit
,
while
the
student
-
managed
investment
fund
will
offer
hands
-
on
experience
navigating
live
markets
.
I
am
also
eager
to
contribute
to
the
Graduate
Finance
Association
by
organizing
alumni
panels
that
connect
students
with
professionals
in
impact
investing
.
Finance
,
at
its
best
,
allocates
capital
toward
productive
ends
and
creates
opportunities
for
communities
that
traditional
models
overlook
.
I
am
committed
to
a
career
that
uses
financial
expertise
not
merely
to
generate
returns
,
but
to
build
sustainable
businesses
.
The
Master
of
Science
in
Finance
1 / 2
program
represents
the
ideal
next
step
in
that
journey
,
and
I
am
ready
to
learn
,
contribute
,
and
grow
within
your
community
.
