Master
of
Arts
in
International
Relations
Growing
up
along
the
U
.
S
.-
Mexico
border
in
El
Paso
,
I
learned
early
that
international
relations
is
not
an
abstraction
confined
to
embassy
chambers
.
It
is
lived
daily
in
the
queues
at
ports
of
entry
,
in
bilingual
classrooms
,
and
in
the
legal
aid
clinics
where
families
navigate
asylum
claims
.
My
decision
to
pursue
graduate
study
in
international
relations
stems
from
a
decade
of
witnessing
how
statecraft
intersects
with
human
dignity
,
and
from
a
desire
to
shape
policies
that
acknowledge
both
sovereignty
and
shared
responsibility
.
I
completed
my
undergraduate
studies
at
the
University
of
Texas
at
Austin
,
earning
a
Bachelor
of
Arts
in
Political
Science
with
a
minor
in
Global
Arabic
Studies
.
My
honors
thesis
examined
the
externaliza

tion
of
European
Union
migration
enforcement
through
agreements
with
Libyan
coast
guards
,
combin
-
ing
doctrinal
legal
analysis
with
field
interviews
conducted
remotely
with
activists
in
Tripoli
and
Tunis
.
This
project
taught
me
that
rigorous
scholarship
requires
not
only
archival
patience
but
also
ethical
lis
-
tening
across
linguistic
and
cultural
distance
.
After
graduating
in
2022,
I
joined
the
International
Rescue
Committee
as
a
caseworker
for
resettled
refugee
families
in
Dallas
.
Over
two
years
,
I
prepared
over
four
hundred
humanitarian
parole
applica
-
tions
and
coordinated
with
UNHCR
field
officers
,
U
.
S
.
State
Department
contractors
,
and
local
immi
-
gration
attorneys
.
The
experience
exposed
the
operational
fractures
between
multilateral
commit
-
ments
and
frontline
implementation
.
I
realized
that
effective
international
governance
depends
on
mid
-
level
professionals
who
can
translate
treaty
language
into
actionable
protocols
for
overwhelmed
local
offices
.
The
Master
of
Arts
in
International
Relations
program
offers
the
precise
interdisciplinary
training
I
need
to
bridge
that
gap
.
Courses
such
as
Comparative
Foreign
Policy
Analysis
and
International
Political
Economy
will
sharpen
my
theoretical
frameworks
,
while
the
practicum
in
Global
Negotiation
will
hone
the
diplomatic
skills
I
currently
lack
.
I
am
particularly
eager
to
study
under
Professor
Sarah
Linfield
,
whose
work
on
humanitarian
intervention
and
the
responsibility
to
protect
reframes
sovereignty
as
a
duty
rather
than
merely
a
right
.
Following
the
degree
,
I
intend
to
join
the
U
.
S
.
Foreign
Service
with
a
concentration
in
political
affairs
,
focusing
on
the
Middle
East
and
North
Africa
region
.
Long
term
,
I
hope
to
advise
on
refugee
resettle
-
ment
policy
within
the
Bureau
of
Population
,
Refugees
,
and
Migration
,
ensuring
that
American
diplo
-
matic
leverage
aligns
with
international
legal
obligations
.
This
career
path
is
not
merely
professional
ambition
;
it
is
a
commitment
to
the
communities
I
have
served
and
to
the
principle
that
stability
abroad
is
inseparable
from
justice
at
home
.
Thank
you
for
considering
my
application
.
I
welcome
the
opportunity
to
contribute
to
and
learn
from
the
rigorous
intellectual
community
you
have
built
.
