I
did
not
set
out
to
become
an
entrepreneur
.
I
set
out
to
solve
a
problem
that
kept
me
awake
at
night
.
During
my
four
years
leading
supply
chain
operations
at
a
major
e
-
commerce
fulfillment
center
,
I
watched
trucks
leave
our
docks
every
evening
carrying
thousands
of
cubic
feet
of
single
-
use
plastic
air
pillows
and
polyethylene
mailers
.
The
environmental
cost
was
staggering
,
yet
the
operational
inertia
was
even
more
overwhelming
.
I
realized
that
sustainability
and
efficiency
were
not
opposing
forces
.
They
simply
required
a
systems
thinker
willing
to
build
the
bridge
.
In
2019,
I
conducted
an
internal
audit
of
our
secondary
packaging
footprint
.
We
were
consuming
2.3
million
plastic
mailers
annually
across
one
facility
alone
.
The
unit
cost
seemed
low
,
roughly
$
0.08
per
bag
,
but
the
aggregate
spend
exceeded
$
180,000
yearly
.
When
I
modeled
the
downstream
waste
management
costs
and
customer
churn
tied
to
sustainability
complaints
,
the
true
cost
approached
$
340,000.
I
proposed
a
pilot
using
corrugated
inserts
and
right
-
sized
box
algorithms
.
Within
six
months
,
we
reduced
void
fill
volume
by
42%
and
saved
$
127,000.
More
importantly
,
customer
satisfaction
scores
related
to
packaging
rose
by
18%.
That
pilot
taught
me
that
environmental
impact
and
profit
margins
can
move
in
the
same
direction
if
you
engineer
the
solution
correctly
.
In
2021,
I
co
-
founded
GreenRoute
Packaging
,
a
company
that
designs
reusable
shipping
containers
for
direct
-
to
-
consumer
brands
.
We
started
with
a
single
material
,
a
proprietary
blend
of
recycled
corrugated
and
mycelium
binding
agents
that
can
survive
roughly
40
shipping
cycles
before
industrial
composting
.
Our
first
client
was
a
regional
skincare
brand
in
Portland
shipping
12,000
units
monthly
.
We
retrofitted
their
fulfillment
line
,
trained
their
warehouse
staff
,
and
managed
the
reverse
logistics
to
collect
used
containers
at
drop
points
.
Today
,
GreenRoute
serves
34
brands
across
the
Pacific
Northwest
and
California
.
We
have
processed
over
1.2
million
shipments
,
diverted
approximately
18
metric
tons
of
single
-
use
plastic
from
landfills
,
and
reached
a
monthly
recurring
revenue
of
$
48,000.

My
technical
background
in
industrial
engineering
gave
me
the
analytical
tools
to
model
logistics
networks
and
optimize
material
science
choices
.
However
,
entrepreneurship
demanded
a
broader
skill
set
.
I
learned
to
sell
to
skeptical
procurement
managers
who
viewed
reusable
packaging
as
a
compliance
headache
.
I
learned
to
recruit
engineers
on
lean
budgets
by
articulating
a
mission
that
mattered
.
I
learned
to
manage
cash
flow
when
a
key
investor
delayed
a
wire
transfer
by
three
weeks
during
our
pre
-
seed
round
.
These
experiences
taught
me
that
resilience
is
not
an
innate
trait
.
It
is
a
muscle
built
by
repeatedly
encountering
the
gap
between
plan
and
reality
,
then
closing
that
gap
with
creativity
and
persistence
.
Over
the
next
decade
,
I
believe
the
e
-
commerce
logistics
industry
will
undergo
a
packaging
revolution
driven
by
extended
producer
responsibility
legislation
and
consumer
preference
shifts
.
My
vision
is
to
position
GreenRoute
as
the
infrastructure
layer
for
circular
commerce
in
North
America
.
We
are
currently
piloting
a
digital
passport
system
that
tracks
each
container
'
s
lifecycle
using
QR
codes
and
lightweight
RFID
tags
.
This
data
will
allow
our
clients
to
report
precise
environmental
impact
metrics
to
their
stakeholders
and
regulators
.
I
am
also
exploring
partnerships
with
national
grocery
chains
to
adapt
our
container
system
for
perishable
goods
,
a
segment
that
currently
generates
3.4
million
tons
of
expanded
polystyrene
waste
annually
in
the
United
States
alone
.
I
am
seeking
to
join
a
rigorous
entrepreneurship
program
because
I
recognize
that
scaling
GreenRoute
from
a
regional
operator
to
a
national
platform
requires
capital
strategy
,
enterprise
sales
expertise
,
and
organizational
design
capabilities
that
I
have
not
yet
fully
developed
.
I
have
proven
that
I
can
build
the
zero
-
to
-
one
product
and
find
product
-
market
fit
.
Now
I
need
the
frameworks
,
mentorship
,
and
network
that
only
a
top
-
tier
entrepreneurial
ecosystem
can
provide
.
I
am
not
interested
in
entrepreneurship
as
a
title
.
I
am
interested
in
it
as
a
vehicle
to
redefine
how
commerce
interacts
with
the
physical
world
.
I
am
ready
to
do
the
work
.
