am

Marcus
Chen
,
who
served
as
a
volunteer
at
Haven
Community
Center
from
September
16, 2024,
through
March
28, 2025.
In
my
role
as
Volunteer
Coordinator
,
I
supervised
Marcus
directly
and
witnessed
his
contributions
across
multiple
programs
.
He
is
one
of
the
most
dependable
and
thoughtful
volunteers
we
have
had
in
recent
years
,
and
I
am
confident
he
will
bring
the
same
level
of
commitment
to
any
academic
or
professional
pursuit
.
During
his
tenure
,
Marcus
contributed
127
hours
of
direct
community
service
.
He
began
as
a
general
program
assistant
but
quickly
took
on
leadership
responsibilities
in
our
After
-
School
STEM
Mentorship
Program
,
where
he
tutored
middle
-
school
students
in
basic
circuitry
and
Python
programming
.
He
had
a
rare
ability
to
explain
complex
ideas
without
talking
down
to
the
kids
.
By
the
end
of
the
semester
,
three
of
his
regular
mentees
had
built
functioning
sensor
projects
and
presented
them
at
our
annual
open
house
.
What
distinguishes
Marcus
is
not
just
his
reliability
he
never
missed
a
scheduled
shift
without
providing
at
least
forty
-
eight
hours
'
notice
but
his
emotional
intelligence
.
He
notices
when
someone
is
struggling
and
finds
practical
ways
to
help
.
He
is
patient
,
resourceful
,
and
unafraid
to
take
on
unglamorous
tasks
.
Whether
he
was
hauling
mulch
in
the
rain
or
debugging
a
student
'
s
code
for
the
third
time
,
he
treated
the
work
with
seriousness
and
good
humor
.

Marcus
Chen
