Defining Authorization

To give permission to a person assigned on your behalf to do the actions. To give authority over someone or something.

Defining Policy

A form of legal writing where a legal contract was made. A set of rules to be followed by the person giving the policy. Usually used in business.

Defining Authorization Policy

An authorization policy may both give or take out permission from a party or a person who is the bearer of one or more granted activities. The policy given bears a set of rules to be followed by the party or the person so that the permission is fully granted. This is usually found in companies. There is a policy which everyone must follow, and if they so break it, consequences are taken as responsibility.

Things to Expect in an Authorization Policy

Before agreeing to anything the company or the party may offer, here are the things to expect when dealing with authorization policies.

  • Purpose: Look for the purpose in the policy. Why are you given this? Read carefully the purpose. It is usually found in the first paragraph of the document. If you have inquiries about the purpose, ask. Do not assume that the policy will never change. Often than not, some policies are updated or revised.
  • Scope: You may often find the scope below the purpose. The sentence usually read as “this policy is made for the people working under the company”
  • Information: In an authorization policy, you often find information a paragraph or two long. This is because in a policy, you are required to understand and follow the rules.
  • Signature: Once you are done reading and understanding the purpose of the policy, sign your complete name and signature. This is of course binding and must be followed. They are rules made to be followed.
  • Date: Put the date signed when you are done to signify that this is the date that you have read and understood and made a promise to uphold the policy made by the company or the person who has granted the permission.

May I ask a lawyer about the policies before signing them?
