Birthday Party Tips

1. Theme

What is a birthday party without a good theme? Some of the best birthday parties are born out of the child’s favorite things or a TV show that they keep watching. The common stereotype for children’s parties are that male kids like animated action TV series or action adventure movies and their characters while small girls would like to have Disney princesses for their kind of party. But it actually pays to be creative. You may also see sumptuous seafood menu examples.

For instance, you can always have a beach party as a way for kids to go out and enjoy the sun and the fresh air and whatever nature has in store for them.

2. Guest List and Invitations

This is a no-brainer, really. It should be as simple as inviting only your friends and do not invite your enemies or people you do not like to attend your party. But how could you have enemies at the age of what, 4 or 5 years old? Unless someone pulled your hair or “accidentally” spilled some juice on your favorite shirt, then at least try to invite everyone you know or at least let the parents make the list for you on who to invite. And since this is the 21st century, there is no need to send the invites by mail anymore. Just send a private message to the people you invited or make a group page on Facebook with all the necessary and specific details. Depending on the kind of party you are going to throw, you have to be specific about it (e.g. BBQ party, swimming).

3. Place

As mentioned before, it would have to depend on the kind of party that you are throwing. But it is important to make sure that the hosts themselves are familiar with the place itself. If the hosts just so happen to be renting the place just for the occasion, it is crucial to make sure that all necessary expenses are being dealt with. You may also check out dinner menu samples.

From the catering to the entertainment to the rental of chairs and tables and everything else. Another thing that you would be your budget. Just by simply renting a venue would already cost you thousands. If you are keen into saving money, just stick to a simple house party and maybe some home-cooked meals.

4. Decorations

Atmosphere is everything. Once you’ve chosen a theme, use a little creativity to set the scene. That doesn’t mean you need to fly to the Grand Canyon for a campout party. Kids are naturally imaginative; they’ll play along when you use simple household gadgets to transform your home into a national park. Set up a tent, pass out flashlights and catch fireflies in the backyard. You might be interested in chinese food menu designs & examples.

5. Entertainment

What would you expect from a kid’s party? For them to talk to one another all day? Kids are not like that. They want to roam around, play all day and goof around. Being the parents, you have to cater to your children’s needs. However, some millennials would prefer to have their birthday party at the arcade. But when you grow older, you would either want simpler birthday parties to celebrate or something more extravagant. For teenagers, simple dinner parties with a bit of drinking with some of your friends would do.

But if you are the kind of person who just wants to do more than just eat and party, you can always hire outside entertainment. Clowns and magicians are the kind of entertainers that would blow the mind of kids away. But if you want to up your entertainment, go for hiring bands to play for you. Or go out of your comfort zone and engage in some outdoor activities (e.g. bungee jumping, rappelling, trampolining). Whatever you guys feel like doing. You may also see barbecue menu examples.

6. Organize Help

Remember that you cannot do everything alone. You need help every now and then. Get help from your neighbors, your friends, your family, some strangers. Never be afraid to ask for assistance especially when you need it the most. You do it all for your kids, right?

7. Food

What is there to say? The food does have to be too classy or too formal as again, you are just having a birthday party. You are not there in some casual or fancy eatery outside. For kids, the normal kind of dishes that you can just prepare with ease would be spaghetti, some fried chicken, maybe some pizza and some soft drinks and ice cream- a favorite among all. But for high school kids, they can always choose to hold their celebration in a casual restaurant or maybe in a fast-food chain. Again, the choice is ultimately yours. 8. Control Expenses

The most important thing about throwing a party is to make sure that you are in your budget and you do not go overboard with it. At some point, kids would have to realize that they cannot get everything that they want in life. They would just have to learn that having a birthday party is considered a huge blessing in of itself. At some point, you would have to tell and explain to your kids that you are not Bill Gates and therefore not made of money. You may also see psd menu samples.

9. Dealing with Siblings

It’s the birthday kid’s big day but that doesn’t mean you can ignore her brothers and sisters. While you may want to arrange for siblings to go play at another friend’s house, many kids don’t want to miss out on the action at home. If that’s the case, allow the sibling to invite one special friend. They can either play in another room or help out with the party (as coat-takers, present-collectors, guest-greeters, or waiters). 10. Expect the Unexpected

The hardest thing to plan for at any birthday party is the unexpected. Here’s what you can do to keep chaos at bay:

  • Be prepared for meltdowns. An adult helper can take a distraught child aside while the rest of the group continues celebrating.
  • Stock band-aids, ice and tissue.
  • If parents are dropping off children, be sure you know about any food allergies or relevant medical conditions.
  • If you have pets, it’s best to keep them separate from the guests. Include them in your family celebration — but know that some children are allergic to or afraid of even the most gentle animals. Similarly, many pets are afraid of small children who may not know that it’s a bad idea to pull tails or step on paws. You may also check out pasta menu designs and examples.
