mass marketing

Dr. Seuss once wrote, “today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive that is you-er than you.” Man’s individuality sets him apart from the rest of the world. A person’s differences make him unique. But sometimes you need to think of people as a whole. Conformity isn’t always a recommendation, but it does help you understand people’s standard way of thinking. Individual development doesn’t reflect society’s entirety. Sometimes you need to look at the bigger picture. Why must you only focus on a man when you can study the whole world? Throw away all notions of singularity and look at the world as one.

To be able to reach a broader scope of clients and audiences, marketers need a campaign that appeals to the masses. Sticking to a specific target market isn’t going to get your products sold. To more you allure, the higher the possibility of sales. This marketing strategy is called mass marketing or sometimes undifferentiated marketing. Using mass marketing strategies to attract an entire group instead of particular demographics is not something new. The target of this method is getting high sales. This is most effective when selling products considered to be necessities. Mass marketing products are those bought in large quantities. This method directly opposes niche marketing.

Floaters and Sinkers

Like all marketing strategies, mass marketing has its own list of advantages and disadvantages. Understanding and analyzing them could do a marketer some good. Before using this method for your products, you need to know how to make do with its ups and downs.

Advantages

Since mass marketing tries to appeal to all, it also takes advantage of social media and other various mass media marketing platforms. With the addition of marketing flyers, posters, and other promotional materials, this method reaches more people making it highly cost-efficient. Mass distribution is also cheaper than delivering only to specific markets. And with some much advertising, the brand is then engraved in the minds of buyers.

Disadvantages

Although mass marketing has its fair share of advantages, there are still factors that make it less reliable than mass-market segmentation. As times change, marketing trends also change. Mass marketing is vulnerable to these changes since it relies on the wants of the masses. This could also lead to customers not being loyal to the brand. Competition is also a great risk of undifferentiated marketing. Rival brands could revamp your ideas as their own.

Be a Master of Mass Marketing

Even newly established companies can build a relationship with the mass market. A great product and great advertising is all it takes. But getting the attention of the large part of the crowd is never easy. You need to construct a solid business plan to achieve your goals. Large scale marketing is tough, but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible. You just need a little help.

1. Pocketful of Coupon

Everybody loves discounts and promos. So why not give your customers some? Handing out coupons and vouchers can attract a lot of thrifty consumers. Give them the idea that they can save even just a tiny bit of their money using your discount coupon. Mothers and penny-pinching adults are bound to collect all the tickets.

2. Solutions and Such

When a problem arises, people go all over the place to find a solution. Why not give just that? A good sales strategy is advertising your products like it’s the best solution to all your customers’ problems. For example, your clients are stressed out on high electric bills; you can persuade them to buy your low-energy consuming AC to keep their home cool instead of using an electric fan per room. You solved a problem and sold your product.

3. Teach Them Well

When selling a product, you must educate your customers about every little detail. How to fix the product if it’s broken?  Who to call for repairs and replacements? All those kinds of things. Sometimes an instruction sheet is not enough. Uninformed clients are a hassle to work with. Having websites with your product’s information is also a plus.

4. Friend of the Forrest

The world today is suffering from pollution, climate change, and global warming. A smart way to sell products is by proving how environmentally friendly it is. Environmental issues can trigger any target market, so by helping save the planet, you also gain loyal customers. Keeping it clean and green is the way to go.

5. Behind the Curtain

When something is intriguing, people will want to know who made it. Humans are curious creatures; they will try to investigate all the phenomena of the world. By introducing your team to your clients, you build a connection and relationship with them. You are pulling away the curtain and revealing the masters.

Getting along with the crowd is always okay. You need to blend with the group to be left out. But having your own style and personality never hurt anybody.
