Dear Mrs. Alvarez,
wanted to write you a proper thank you before the year ends. When I walked into our
first tutoring session last September, I was convinced I’d never make sense of calculus
— and honestly, I had all but given up on the subject. Your patience that afternoon, and the
many afternoons after it, was the first sign that maybe I could.
You never made me feel silly for asking questions, even the ones I was embarrassed to ask
twice. You explained things until they finally clicked, celebrated the small wins with me, and
somehow made every session feel like the safest place in the school. Because of you, I went
from barely passing to finishing the year with an A – and more importantly, I stopped
being afraid of hard problems.
Thank you for the extra time, the encouragement, and for believing in me before I believed
in myself. I’ll carry the way you teach with me into college, and into everything after that.
