Hey everyone — nice to meet
you!
I'm Jordan, a sophomore from Portland, Oregon, currently
studying environmental science at the University of Michigan.
I chose this major because I want to work on problems that
feel big — climate, conservation, sustainable cities — and
actually do something about them. When I'm not in class,
you'll usually find me outdoors, behind a camera, or trying a
new recipe.
WHERE I'M FROM
I grew up in Portland with my parents and two younger brothers. I
lived in the Pacific Northwest my whole life, so moving to Ann
Arbor has been a fun change of pace — I'm still getting used to the
lack of mountains. I go home whenever I can, mostly for family
dinners and really good coffee.
THINGS I LOVE
A FEW FUN FACTS
LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS SEMESTER
Getting to know everyone in this class, surviving my first
Michigan winter, and landing a summer internship with a
conservation nonprofit. If you know of any opportunities — or
just want to grab coffee — please say hi!
Hiking and trail running — I've visited 14 national parks so far
Film photography — I shoot on a 35mm camera from the 1990s
Cooking — I'm slowly working my way through a vintage
vegetarian cookbook
Live music — I try to catch at least one show every month
I walked the last 6 miles of my first 50k trail race — finishing
still counts.
1
I've never broken a bone, but I've sprained the same ankle
four times, twice on flat ground.
2
My favorite thing in Ann Arbor so far is a pastrami sandwich
from Zingerman's.
3
I can name all 50 state capitals thanks to a road-trip game I
refused to lose.
