5. CONSTRUCTIVE FEEDBACK & AREAS FOR GROWTH
To further advance her clinical leadership and prepare for a potential Clinical Nurse IV promotion, Clara should focus
on the following developmental areas:
Appropriate Delegation to UAPs:
Clara's deep sense of personal responsibility occasionally leads her to perform
basic patient care tasks (such as routine turning, bathing, and stocking) herself. To better manage her time and focus
on high-acuity clinical interventions, she must practice confidently and appropriately delegating these tasks to Patient
Care Technicians (PCTs).
Unit Governance Involvement:
While Clara is a leader at the bedside, she currently has limited involvement in
hospital-wide or unit-wide committees. Transitioning into higher clinical ladder roles will require her to take an active
seat on the Unit-Based Council (UBC) to drive systemic policy changes.
6. FUTURE GOALS & PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (FY2027)
Goal 1 (Certification):
Study for and successfully obtain the Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) board
certification by the end of Q3 2027 to validate her advanced specialty knowledge.
Goal 2 (Quality Improvement):
Join the ICU Unit-Based Council (UBC) and lead an evidence-based practice
(EBP) project focused on reducing hospital-acquired pressure injuries (HAPI) on the unit.
Goal 3 (Clinical Education):
Design and lead a 30-minute in-service presentation for the night shift staff regarding
the updated continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) alarm troubleshooting protocols.
Goal 4 (Delegation Proficiency):
Improve workflow efficiency by actively delegating within the scope of practice to
UAPs, targeting a more balanced workload during peak admission hours.
