Collaboration with Nature
My work explores the relationship between humans, nature, and the passage of time. I create
temporary sculptures using natural materials such as leaves, stones, ice, branches, and flowers,
allowing the environment itself to become an active participant in the artistic process. Through
these works, I investigate cycles of growth, decay, transformation, and the delicate balance
between creation and disappearance.
The process of making is central to my practice. I work directly within landscapes, responding to
the qualities of each location and allowing the materials to guide the direction of the artwork.
Rather than imposing a fixed idea onto nature, I observe, adapt, and collaborate with the
conditions of the environment. Wind, rain, sunlight, temperature, and natural movement become
part of the creative process.
Impermanence is a fundamental aspect of my work. Many of my sculptures are designed to
change, deteriorate, or disappear over time, reflecting the natural cycles that shape the world
around us. The temporary nature of these works encourages awareness of the present moment
and highlights the beauty found in processes of transformation and renewal.
Material and place are inseparable within my practice. Each stone, branch, leaf, or piece of ice
carries its own history, texture, and connection to the landscape from which it comes. By
arranging these elements into carefully considered forms, I reveal patterns, relationships, and
possibilities that already exist within nature.
Photography plays an important role in preserving and sharing these fleeting creations. The
photograph is not the artwork itself but a record of an interaction between the sculpture, the
environment, and the moment in which it existed. Through documentation, I allow temporary
experiences to continue communicating ideas about time, memory, and natural processes.
Ultimately, my practice is an exploration of connection and change. Through environmental
sculpture and natural materials, I aim to create moments of awareness that encourage viewers
to look more closely at the world around them. My work celebrates the beauty of impermanence
and the ongoing dialogue between human creativity and the forces of nature.
