My work explores the relationship between identity, material, and transformation. I am interested
in how found objects, textiles, and everyday materials can be reimagined into sculptural forms
that carry emotional, cultural, and social meaning. Through sculpture, installation, and
performance, I investigate the ways art can respond to issues of race, visibility, and human
connection while creating spaces of celebration, resilience, and possibility.
Material is central to my practice. I gather discarded, handmade, and manufactured objects,
allowing their histories and textures to shape the creative process. By combining unexpected
materials into intricate compositions, I transform familiar objects into new forms that challenge
assumptions about value, identity, and representation. Each work becomes a conversation
between the material's past and its newly imagined future.
Performance and movement play an essential role in my artistic language. Many of my
sculptures are activated through the body, becoming dynamic forms that change through
gesture, rhythm, and interaction. I am fascinated by the relationship between stillness and
motion, exploring how movement can express emotion, identity, and collective experience
beyond spoken language.
My work is deeply influenced by community, ritual, and cultural memory. Through vibrant
colours, elaborate surfaces, and immersive installations, I seek to create environments that
invite participation and reflection. I explore themes of protection, healing, and transformation,
using art as a means of addressing social realities while imagining more inclusive and
compassionate futures.
Craftsmanship, repetition, and accumulation define my visual approach. I embrace
labor-intensive processes that celebrate the handmade, allowing countless individual elements
to come together as unified forms. These layered structures reflect the complexity of personal
and collective identities, revealing how diverse experiences can coexist within a shared space.
Ultimately, my practice is an exploration of the power of transformation through art. Through
sculpture, performance, and installation, I aim to create works that celebrate individuality,
encourage dialogue, and inspire hope. By giving new life to overlooked materials, I seek to
reveal the beauty, resilience, and shared humanity that connect us all.
