My work explores the relationship between personal experience, identity, and the emotional
landscapes that shape human existence. Through painting and self-portraiture, I transform
moments of joy, pain, love, and loss into visual narratives that reflect both individual memory
and universal human emotion. I use my own image not as an act of self-documentation, but as a
means of exploring the complexities of the human spirit and the experiences that define a life.
The self-portrait is central to my practice. By placing myself within symbolic and imaginative
settings, I investigate questions of identity, resilience, and belonging. Rather than presenting a
literal likeness, I create images that reveal emotional truths through metaphor, allowing personal
experiences to become reflections on endurance, vulnerability, and transformation.
My work is deeply connected to Mexican culture, folklore, and the natural world. Traditional
clothing, indigenous symbolism, animals, plants, and vibrant landscapes appear throughout my
paintings as expressions of cultural heritage and personal identity. These elements create visual
narratives that celebrate the richness of tradition while exploring the intimate connections
between people, history, and place.
Symbolism plays an essential role in my artistic language. I use flowers, animals, roots, and
natural forms as metaphors for growth, suffering, renewal, and the interconnectedness of life.
Colour, composition, and carefully chosen details allow each painting to communicate multiple
layers of meaning, encouraging viewers to engage with both the visible image and the emotions
that exist beneath its surface.
Painting serves as a process of reflection and resilience. Through art, I confront physical
hardship, emotional experience, and the changing realities of life, transforming deeply personal
