My artistic practice is rooted in an exploration of landscape as an emotional and sensory
experience rather than a literal representation of place. I am interested in the subtle
relationships between memory, atmosphere, and the natural environment, creating paintings
that invite viewers to reflect on the quiet moments that often shape our connection to the world
around us. Through abstraction and expressive mark-making, I seek to capture the feeling of a
place rather than its precise appearance.
Working intuitively, I develop each painting through successive layers of colour, texture, and
gesture. The process is one of discovery, allowing each composition to evolve naturally while
preserving traces of earlier decisions beneath the surface. These accumulated layers reflect the
passage of time and suggest the shifting nature of memory, where fragments of experience
remain visible even as they are transformed.
Colour is central to my practice, functioning as both structure and emotion. Variations in tone,
light, and texture create rhythm within the work while evoking the changing conditions of
weather, season, and landscape. I aim to balance moments of energy with areas of stillness,
encouraging viewers to pause and engage with the painting through their own personal
experiences and interpretations.
My work celebrates the ever-changing relationship between people and place. Rather than
providing fixed narratives, I create open spaces for contemplation where memory, imagination,
and observation intersect. Through painting, I hope to encourage a deeper appreciation for the
landscapes that surround us and the emotional connections they continue to inspire.
