Good evening, everyone. For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Chloe —
Daniel’s little sister. Dan made me promise not to share anything too
embarrassing tonight, and I intend to keep that promise. Mostly.
When we were kids, Dan decided he was going to teach me to drive his go-kart. He
gave me the full safety briefing, which I promptly ignored, and told me I’d be fine.
Six feet later, I had driven us straight into the rose bushes. He didn’t blink. He
just handed me the wheel and said,
“Okay. Let’s try that one more time.”
That has
always been Dan — patient, steady, and absolutely certain that the people he
loves can do anything.
So when Rachel came into his life, I wasn’t surprised that he could see how
wonderful she is — warm, funny, and so clever it’s almost unfair. What truly
moved me was watching her see
him
. She loves the Dan the rest of us know best:
kind, loyal, and quietly good. And somewhere along the way, Rachel didn’t just
join our family’s story — she became the happiest chapter of Dan’s.
Rachel, we could not love you more if you had been born into this family. And
Dan — I have never seen you this happy, and the reason is standing right beside
you.
Marriage is a long road, and there will be a few rose bushes along the way. But of
one thing I am absolutely certain: you will always hand each other the wheel, and
you will always try again — together.
