Coca-Cola Global Brand Identity Guidelines

5. Brand architecture in practice
Application
Primary considerations
Packaging
Protect product identity, approved wordmark, package silhouette, color, hierarchy, and required
information. Use market-specific production files.
Retail & equipment
Maintain recognition at distance while respecting physical dimensions, materials, and local
requirements.
Digital
Adapt the system to responsive screens while preserving recognizable assets, hierarchy, and
accessibility.
Agency work
Use controlled master assets and complete required approval and governance steps before production.
6. Generative AI and “Create Real Magic”
Coca-Cola has publicly documented experimentation with generative AI through “Create Real Magic.” In March 2023, the
company announced a platform built for Coca-Cola by OpenAI and Bain & Company that combined GPT-4 and DALL-E
capabilities and allowed digital creators to work with selected Coca-Cola archive assets.
Brand assets in the AI environment
The platform made selected branded elements available for creative experimentation, including the contour bottle,
Spencerian script logo, Coca-Cola Santa Claus, and Polar Bear imagery. The company described the experience as a
controlled creative sandbox.
Human review
AI-generated output should not be treated as automatically approved brand communication. Teams need to check brand
assets, claims, legal requirements, cultural context, product accuracy, and production quality before publishing.
Scaling creative
Coca-Cola described opportunities to increase creative production speed and feature creator work in prominent digital
environments. In the 2023 Create Real Magic program, selected work could be considered for display on digital billboards
in New York’s Times Square and London’s Piccadilly Circus.
7. AI creative review checklist
I
Use only approved Coca-Cola assets made available for the project.
I
Check that the wordmark and other brand assets are represented accurately.
I
Review generated imagery for unintended distortions or altered trademarks.
I
Check claims, product details, packaging, and required disclosures.
I
Review cultural, legal, safety, and reputational considerations.
I
Confirm final artwork meets the technical requirements of the media placement.
I
Obtain required brand and legal approvals before publication.
8. World Without Waste and packaging
Coca-Cola’s World Without Waste strategy addresses packaging through interconnected design, collection, and
partnership efforts. The company announced the strategy in 2018 with a goal to help collect and recycle the equivalent of
one bottle or can for every one it sells by 2030 and to work toward making packaging recyclable globally.
Design
Coca-Cola’s 2025 sustainability information reports that 99% of its packaging was designed to be recycled globally and
that 30% recycled material was used in primary packaging globally, with 20% of PET used being recycled PET.
