What Is a Training Management Plan

A training management plan is a document containing all the necessary information and details that the trainer will use to conduct a successful training. The upper management and the HR of the business or company will need to communicate, develop, and scrutinize the training management plan. The training management plan allows the trainer to conduct the training with structure and efficiency. The training management plan will not only provide structure for the training but will also try to inform upper management why this training is needed.

How to Create a Training Management Plan

The training management plan can be used for training that only incorporate a project training plan, a training plan for employees, a military training plan, and even a volunteer training plan. Just note that a training management plan is a document created by an HR practitioner with experience and/or knowledge in training. If you are confused about how a training management plan should look you may refer to the free training management plan templates and PDFs on the list above.

1.) Fill in the Name of the Group or Project

Start by filling in the name of the group or project. If there is no group or project name, then the planner should use the name of the business or company. You will also need to list down the names of the participants or trainees who will undertake the training. This will entirely depend on the purpose of the training management plan. A training management plan for managers should only include managers of the business or company.

2.) List Down the Overview and the Name of the Trainer

After filling in the first part of the management plan, the planner will then need to describe the whole overview of the training, This should include a small list of training objectives and events that will be used throughout the training. The planner will also need to include the name of the trainer and their assistants on the training management plan.

3.) Address the Purpose and the Goals of the Training

The planner must then address why this training needs to be conducted on the employees of a specific group or project. This will ensure that the training will provide a solution or a specific need that is lacking in the group or project. After addressing the purpose of the training, the planner will now need to list down the goals and the projected outcome of the training.

4.) Write Down the Specific Events of the Training Program

When the planner has accomplished all of that, they will now need to write down the specific events that will make up the training program. This will include the specific events on the program and their accompanying descriptions and allocated resources.

FAQs

What makes a training management plan so useful when conducting training?

The training management plan allows both the management and the trainer to be on the same page. This will also allow the trainer to convey why the training is needed and what aspects are being enhanced by the training. Not only will it inform the management, but it will also ensure that the training will have structure.

Who should create the Training Management Plan?

The person making the training management plan should be someone who specializes in training personnel. This person could either be a part of the HR department or an HR specialist in the company. Alternatively the company or business can outsource the training to an HR specialist, but this might cost significantly higher than assigning it to a person in HR. Just note that the quality of the training is highly dependent on the skills of the assigned person.

Should I outsource a specialist to create a training management plan and conduct the training?

It depends, most of the time it is better to hire an outsourced training or HR specialist who knows how to conduct highly effective training. Because an outside specialist provides a unique outlook and perspective and may uncover an issue due to this unique perspective. The outsourced specialist will be the one to create and improve the training management plan and coordinate the said plan with the upper management. Not only that but they will also be the ones to conduct the whole training on your employees. If the budget is limited, then you may assign the training task to one of your HR employees, specifically an HR employee with experience in training.

A training management plan will help ensure that your employees will be trained under a program with structure and reason. Not only that but it will also help ensure that the training will be effective after it has been finished. You will know if the upper management exhibits quality management skills when they train and develop their employees.
