ACCOUNTANT
ANNUAL SELF-PERFORMANCE REVIEW
KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS
This past year, my main focus was on strengthening our internal financial controls and accelerating
the month-end close process without sacrificing the strict accuracy required of our department.
One of my proudest achievements was reducing our close timeline from eight business days down
to five. I accomplished this by restructuring how we accrue recurring expenses and standardizing
the reconciliation templates used across the team. By creating a pre-close checklist that can be
executed before the first of the month, I smoothed out the workload and reduced the overtime our
team historically needed during close week.
Additionally, during the Q2 interim audit, I served as the primary liaison for our external auditors.
Recognizing that previous audits had been chaotic and disruptive, I proactively organized the
requested schedules, vendor invoices, and working papers into a secure, centralized digital portal
weeks before their arrival. By anticipating their sample selections and providing clear
documentation upfront, we completed the fieldwork phase early, with zero adjusting journal
entries proposed by the audit team.
Finally, I took the initiative to clean up our historical accounts receivable aging report. I spent
several weeks researching unapplied cash receipts and disputing long-overdue balances with
clients, ultimately recovering a significant amount of outstanding revenue and writing off
uncollectible debt according to our new, stricter credit policy.
CORE COMPETENCIES & STRENGTHS
Accuracy & Reconciliation:
I have a proven ability to track down discrepancies that others might
overlook. I consistently maintain a near-perfect accuracy rate on high-volume bank and credit card
reconciliations. I treat every variance as a puzzle to solve, ensuring that our general ledger truly
reflects our cash position.
Process Documentation:
I recognize that "tribal knowledge" poses a severe risk to a finance
department's continuity. Over the last six months, I took it upon myself to document our revised
accounts payable and expense reimbursement procedures into a comprehensive, step-by-step
