MEDICAL ASSISTANT
A N N U A L S E L F - P E R F O R M A N C E R E V I E W
Over the past year, my primary focus was maintaining efficient patient flow and improving the
accuracy of clinical intakes in our high-volume family practice. My most significant achievement was
taking the lead during our clinic's transition to the new Epic EHR system. By volunteering for the
super-user training, I was able to help three of our senior providers optimize their charting templates
and smart phrases, which reduced their post-visit documentation time by roughly 15 minutes per day.
I also maintained a 98% first-stick success rate in the phlebotomy lab, significantly improving patient
comfort during routine blood draws and reducing laboratory sample rejections.
Additionally, I took ownership of our point-of-care (POC) testing inventory. I implemented a weekly
auditing system for our rapid strep, flu, and urinalysis kits, ensuring all reagents were rotated by
expiration date and properly logged in compliance with CLIA regulations, passing our recent site
inspection with zero citations.
Patient Empathy & Bedside Manner:
I treat every patient with dignity and respect, especially those
who are anxious about their visits or facing difficult diagnoses. I excel at active listening, de-
escalating frustrated patients in the waiting room, and making sure they feel comfortable and heard
before the provider enters the room.
Clinical Workflow & Anticipation:
I do not just passively room patients; I actively anticipate the
provider's needs. By thoroughly reviewing the daily schedule each morning, I ensure all necessary
sterile trays, immunization vials, and prior authorization forms are prepped and ready before the
patient even walks through the door.
