Site Design & Hydrology:
I possess a strong aptitude for transforming
conceptual architectural layouts into functional, constructible civil plans. From
utility routing to complex watershed analysis, I ensure that our designs are not
only code-compliant but practically viable for the contractors operating heavy
machinery on site.
GROWTH AREAS & CHALLENGES
A specific challenge I faced this year was delegating CAD production and
managing a bottleneck in our project delivery pipeline. Because I am highly
particular about plan readability, layer management, and grading accuracy, I
frequently fell into the trap of doing the detailed linework myself rather than
passing it to our junior designers. While this ensured initial accuracy, it pulled
me away from higher-level project management, client communication, and
delayed our final stormwater report submissions. I am realizing that I need to
transition from a "doer" to a "reviewer." I must build better redline routines and
trust my team to execute the drafting, accepting that it may require iterative
feedback rather than doing it perfectly myself the first time.
FUTURE GOALS
To continue advancing my career and taking on more principal responsibilities
within the firm, I have set the following goals for the upcoming year:
Professional Licensure:
Sit for and pass the Principles and Practice of
Engineering (PE) exam in Civil Engineering (Water Resources and
Environmental depth) by the end of Q3.
Implement QA/QC Checklists:
Develop and roll out a standardized Quality
Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) checklist for all site plan submittals by
Q2 to empower junior engineers to self-correct drafting errors before the final
review.
