LAB TECHNICIAN
A N N U A L S E L F - P E R F O R M A N C E R E V I E W
Over the past year, my primary focus was maintaining high-throughput sample processing while
ensuring zero compromises in assay accuracy and patient safety. My most significant achievement
was taking the lead on validating the new automated immunoassay analyzer. By meticulously
running parallel correlation studies against our legacy equipment and documenting the coefficient of
variation (CV) limits, I helped the lab successfully launch the new instrument two weeks ahead of
schedule. This upgrade increased our daily testing capacity by 35% and reduced our average
turnaround times (TAT) for stat panels by 45 minutes.
Additionally, I played a key role during our annual CAP (College of American Pathologists)
inspection. I proactively organized our preventative maintenance logs and updated the Material
Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) binders for the chemistry department, ensuring the auditor found zero
deficiencies in our daily documentation.
Strict SOP Adherence & QA/QC:
I treat Quality Assurance as the foundation of laboratory science.
I am highly disciplined about running daily calibrations and controls, rigorously tracking Levey-
Jennings charts to spot early trend shifts. If a control fails, I immediately halt patient testing and
follow proper troubleshooting protocols rather than risking the release of compromised results.
Sample Integrity & Pre-Analytical Processing:
I understand that a test result is only as good as
the sample received. I possess a strong eye for identifying pre-analytical errors, such as hemolysis,
lipemia, or improper tube draws, and I am comfortable communicating rejection criteria firmly but
professionally to the nursing staff to ensure we only process viable specimens.
