Classroom Management & Culture:
I have cultivated a classroom environment rooted in
mutual respect and clear expectations rather than punitive measures. By heavily investing time
in the first month of school to establish routines and utilizing restorative circles for conflict
resolution, I maximize instructional time and minimize behavioral disruptions.
GROWTH AREAS & CHALLENGES
A specific challenge I faced this year was grading efficiency and providing timely feedback. In
my effort to give comprehensive, written feedback on every single writing assignment, I often
created a grading backlog that delayed returning student work by several days. I recognize that
delayed feedback loses its instructional value and momentum. I am actively working on
utilizing more efficient, sustainable feedback mechanisms. Next year, I plan to rely more
heavily on standardized rubrics, peer-editing protocols, and targeted verbal feedback during
independent work time to ensure my students receive immediate, actionable guidance without
burning myself out.
FUTURE GOALS
To continue growing as an educator and enhancing student outcomes, I have set the following
professional goals for the upcoming school year:
Project-Based Learning Integration:
Design and implement at least one cross-curricular,
project-based learning (PBL) unit per semester to increase student engagement and critical
thinking, moving away from worksheet-heavy independent practice.
Professional Development:
Complete a district-sponsored workshop series on integrating
assistive technology in the general education classroom by the end of Q2 to better support
my neurodivergent learners.
Peer Observation & Collaboration:
Establish a reciprocal peer-observation schedule with
my grade-level team, committing to observing one colleague per month to share
instructional strategies and build a more collaborative departmental culture.
