copy that isn't pulling its weight, allowing performance metrics to override my own
creative ego.
GROWTH AREAS & CHALLENGES
A notable challenge this year was navigating subjective feedback and "design-first"
workflows. In several Q2 campaigns, the wireframes and visual assets were finalized
before the copy was even considered. This forced me to shoehorn complex, nuanced
messaging into incredibly tight character limits and awkward text boxes, leading to
friction and watered-down hooks. I realized I need to be much more assertive about
advocating for a "copy-first" or, at the very least, a "copy-concurrent" approach. I am
actively working on finding my voice in cross-departmental meetings, ensuring I insert
myself into the creative kick-off phase so that design and messaging can evolve together
synergistically.
FUTURE GOALS
To continue driving conversions and elevating the brand's narrative, I have set the
following goals for the next review cycle:
UX Microcopy Mastery:
Complete an advanced course on UX Writing by Q2 to
better assist the product team with in-app tooltips, error messages, and onboarding
screens, ensuring a seamless user experience beyond the initial marketing touchpoints.
Consumer Psychology Frameworks:
Deepen my study of behavioral economics and
Cialdini's principles of persuasion, applying at least one new psychological framework
(like scarcity or social proof anchoring) to our Q3 email nurture sequences.
Brand Voice Style Guide:
Audit and completely rewrite our outdated internal Brand
Voice Guidelines by Q4, providing clear "Do this / Not this" examples for all external-
facing departments to ensure total brand consistency.
