How to Use the Days Between Dates Calculator

Step 1: Pick a Start Date

Step 2: Pick an End Date

Days Between Dates Formula

The Days Between Dates Calculator follows a simple date-math process to produce an accurate day count:

Total Days = (End Date − Start Date) + End Date Adjustment, filtered by Workday Rules if enabled

Where:

  • End Date − Start Date is the raw number of full days between the two selected dates
  • End Date Adjustment adds one extra day to the total when “Include End Date” is off, so both the start and end day are counted
  • Workday Rules filter the total down to only Monday through Friday, plus Saturdays if that option is also switched on, when Count Workdays is enabled

How do I calculate the number of days between two dates?

Select a start date and an end date in the calculator, and the total number of days between them appears automatically. Toggle “Include End Date” on or off depending on whether you want the end date itself counted in the total.

What does “Include End Date” actually change?

When “Include End Date” is on, the calculator counts the raw difference between the two dates. When it’s off, it adds one extra day so that both the start date and the end date are counted as full days.

Can I count only workdays instead of every calendar day?

Yes. Open Advanced Options and turn on “Count Workdays” to limit the result to Monday through Friday. If your workweek also includes Saturday, switch on the Saturday option as well to include those days too.

Does the result update automatically?

Yes. The day count recalculates automatically whenever you change the start date, end date, or any of the toggles, so you don’t need to click “Calculate” again after the first time.

Does the calculator work for past dates as well as future dates?
